LEVO: Research on the effects of development dialogues and leadership tools
At Evovia, we are passionate about leadership and strive to work on an evidence-based foundation. That is why we collaborate closely with, among others, the King Frederik Center for Public Leadership, where Jørgen Skovhus Haunstrup defended his Ph.D. dissertation in November 2023, which is based on the LEVO project.
The research project consists of a field experiment that examines the effects of leadership tools, leadership training, and development dialogues on a wide range of organizational parameters.
226 leaders and their 4,500 employees participated in the 15-month-long experiment. Based on the research project, Jørgen was named “Upcoming HR Researcher of the Year 2024.”
Dive into the insights from the LEVO project
The LEVO project has led to a wide range of insights.
We have communicated these through Danish webinars, as a speaker on conferences and research articles.

Short introduction to LEVO
The LEVO project is a collaboration between Evovia and King Frederik Center for Public Leadership at Aarhus University. The intervention involved 226 managers, randomly assigned through a lottery, and approximately 4,500 employees.
Surveys were conducted before and after the intervention among managers and employees in both the intervention and control groups. The data collected provided robust evidence supporting the positive impact of the intervention on crucial leadership behaviours and employee outcomes.
We investigated whether the combination of two days of leadership training and the use of digital leadership tools, including Evovia’s tools, could enable managers to practice more effective leadership—leadership that fosters employee well-being and organisational success.
LEVO is among the first research projects in the world to investigate the effect of digital dialogue tools. The findings confirm that leadership training combined with the use of dialogue tools significantly enhances ‘good leadership’—leadership that increases employees’ fulfillment of psychological needs, vision valence, value congruence with their organisation, and work engagement.
